PRESS RELEASE
STUDENTS RELAUNCH REGIONAL IDENTITY MAGAZINE
EL PASO, Texas – February 24, 2010 –Today the Regional Economic Development Association (REDA) launched its online magazine, the Regional Identity (www.regionalidentity.com). The Regional Identity is a student publication dedicated to discussing regional business, government, and academic issues.
REDA, a UTEP student organization, developed the Regional Identity to provide an outlet for students to get involved with their communities.
“The magazine provides an outlet for students to research and discuss our region,” said Richard Sapien, Regional Economic Development Association President. “Students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they acquire from the classroom to the real world, through journalism and multimedia production.”
The Regional Identity will publish articles biweekly and will maintain a daily blog, photo gallery, and events calendar. The magazine staff will be composed of students from the College of Business, College of Engineering, and various other UTEP colleges and departments.
The Regional Identity was a successful student project last year that attracted over 15,000 page hits and over 6,000 unique visitors. The Regional Identity received recognition from The El Paso Times and the UTEP Prospector for its reports and projects last semester. The magazine also played an integral role in REDA’s selection as the 2009 UTEP Organization of the Year.
